Med spa and aesthetic injector statistics 2026

Last updated November 5, 2026. Every figure links to its source, with the period it covers. Our own tables are free to reuse with credit.

On November 5, 2026, the 50 injector jobs live on Injector Jobs were mostly for nurse practitioners: 29 accept an NP license, 14 an RN and 10 a PA. Only 26 of the 50 state a pay figure, and 20 say the role is a 1099 contract. Across the industry, AmSpa reported 10,488 US med spa locations in 2023, and neuromodulators such as Botox made up half of all minimally invasive procedures in ASPS's 2025 report. Every number below links to its source, with the period it covers.

Key statistics

  • 50 injector jobs were live on Injector Jobs on November 5, 2026: 29 accept a nurse practitioner, 14 a registered nurse and 10 a physician assistant (our data).
  • 26 of 50 live injector listings (52%) state a pay figure; 25 of 50 pay an hourly base rate (our data).
  • 20 of 50 live injector listings (40%) say the job is a 1099 contract; none says W-2 (our data).
  • 949 injector job ads showed in Google's job listings for our searches in 10 states on October 25, 2026, and 972 on November 1 (our data).
  • 338 of 949 injector job ads (36%) were still listed a week later as the same job: same employer, title and location. Counting the same employer and title in any location, the figure is 476 (50%) (our data).
  • $57.50 an hour was the typical midpoint in 203 injector ads that posted hourly pay; ads with NP or PA in the title posted $70, ads with RN posted $50 (injector salary data, October 25, 2026).
  • 10 of 10 states we cover let a registered nurse inject Botox with conditions, never independently: always on a prescriber's order or delegation. In Florida this rests on Board of Nursing rulings for individual nurses, not a rule for all RNs (RN rules).
  • 2 of 10 states (North Carolina and Texas) let LPNs or LVNs inject Botox with conditions; 3 say no and 5 have no rule (LPN rules).
  • In 9 of 10 states, estheticians are not allowed to inject Botox under their license (several guides reach this from the scope of the license, not from a rule that names Botox). In Colorado a general physician delegation rule can cover an esthetician, never the esthetician license itself (esthetician rules).
  • 10,488 med spa locations in the US in 2023, up from 8,899 in 2022, as reported by AmSpa (AmSpa).
  • $1,398,833 was the average annual revenue of a med spa in AmSpa's 2024 report, up from $1,307,587 (AmSpa).
  • 245 patient visits a month at the average med spa, and patients spend an average of $527 a visit (AmSpa).
  • 89% of med spa patients are female (AmSpa).
  • 50% of minimally invasive procedures in 2025 were neuromodulator injections, and 30% were hyaluronic acid fillers (ASPS 2025 report).
  • An estimated 9,883,711 neuromodulator injections and 5,331,426 hyaluronic acid filler procedures in 2024 (ASPS).
  • An estimated 7,333,647 botulinum toxin procedures were performed by plastic surgeons worldwide in 2025, 7.0% fewer than ISAPS estimated for 2024; an estimated 1,456,812 of them in the US (ISAPS).
  • April 12, 2002 is the date the FDA approved Botox for frown lines and named it Botox Cosmetic (FDA).
  • $132,300 was the median annual wage of US nurse practitioners in May 2025, and NP jobs are projected to grow 41% from 2025 to 2035 (BLS).

Our data: injector jobs on the Injector Jobs board

These counts cover the 50 injector jobs live on our jobs board on November 5, 2026 (listings last refreshed November 4). We list jobs from med spas' own careers pages, so this is a sample of employers, not every injector job in the US. Each count comes from the facts box on the job's page: the license the posting asks for, the pay type, W-2 or 1099 status and training.

The 50 jobs come from 12 employers. The two largest, Skin Clique (14 jobs) and NakedMD (11), make up half the board, so a single employer's policy moves these shares.

To see the wider market, we pulled Google's job listings for "nurse injector", "aesthetic nurse", "aesthetic injector" and "med spa nurse", searching from each of our 10 states, on October 25 and again on November 1, 2026. We removed duplicates and kept ads whose title names injecting, Botox, fillers or neurotoxins. Google shows up to about 100 ads per search, so these are large samples, not a census. Some searches returned nothing (3 of 40 on October 25, 4 of 40 on November 1, not the same ones) and 14 and 13 searches reached Google's cap, so the two snapshots are not exactly comparable and an ad missing a week later may only be missing from the results. Counts are of ads, not of separate jobs: one job can appear as several ads.

State rules: who may inject Botox in the 10 states we cover

We read each state's statutes, rules and board statements for our state guides. This table counts what those guides found for Botox (neurotoxin) injections. Physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners can inject in all 10, within their own license's rules.

"Not addressed" means that, as of November 5, 2026, we found no statute, rule or board statement that answers the question for that role. It does not mean the role is allowed. In Florida, the RN yes rests on Board of Nursing rulings for individual nurses, not a rule for all RNs. Colorado's yes for medical assistants and estheticians rests on the Medical Board's general delegation rule (Rule 1.17), not a board statement about Botox. The conditions (who examines the patient first, who supervises) are in each state's guide. Information, not legal advice.

Med spa industry statistics (AmSpa)

ASPS's 2025 report gives shares, not counts, for minimally invasive procedures: it says it is looking for a data source that matches its surgery data before estimating treatment counts again, so 2024 is the latest year with an ASPS neuromodulator count. ASPS says its figures are statistically extrapolated national estimates. ISAPS counts only procedures by plastic surgeons (survey of 2,900 surgeons, extrapolated to totals). Neither figure counts every injection given in the US, so the two cannot be compared directly.

FDA approval dates for cosmetic botulinum toxins

As of November 5, 2026, these botulinum toxin products are FDA-approved to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe glabellar (frown) lines. Botox itself was first approved in the US in 1989, per its label.

The years for Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau come from the table of approved glabellar line treatments in FDA's review of Letybo. Botox's 1989 first approval is from the Botox Cosmetic label.

How we got these numbers

  • Live board: on November 5, 2026 we read every job page on injectorjobs.com (50 jobs, from the board's state pages, listings last refreshed November 4). We counted the license, pay, pay type, W-2 or 1099 and training fields that each listing shows. A job's license comes from the part of the license field before any note in brackets. The board lists jobs from 8 employer careers feeds, so it covers those employers' brands, not the whole market.
  • Google job ads: 40 searches (4 phrases in each of 10 states) on October 25, 2026 at about 07:00 UTC and again on November 1 at about 11:00 UTC, through DataForSEO's Google Jobs data. "Still listed" means the same job ID, or the same title, employer and location; the looser match counts the same employer and title in any location. Searches that returned no results ("nurse injector" in California, New Jersey and North Carolina on October 25; in California, Texas, New York and North Carolina on November 1) and searches that hit Google's cap of about 100 ads (14 and 13) make the two dates not exactly comparable, and an ad missing a week later may only be missing from the results, not closed. Counts are of ads, not separate jobs. Ad ages are counted to the capture time on October 25 and to midnight UTC on November 1. The state a search was run from is not always the job's location.
  • State rules: taken from our 10 state guides and the RN, LPN and esthetician pages built from them, last checked between October 25 and November 5, 2026. Each guide cites the statute, rule or board statement it relies on.
  • Industry figures: each comes from the organization that owns it (AmSpa, ASPS, ISAPS, FDA, BLS), opened and checked on November 5, 2026. We left out market-size estimates from paid research firms.
  • Shares are rounded to the nearest whole percent. The scripts that produce our counts are kept with our records so the numbers can be reproduced.

FAQ

How many med spas are there in the US?

AmSpa reported 10,488 med spa locations in the US in 2023, up from 8,899 in 2022. That count comes from AmSpa's 2024 Medical Spa State of the Industry report.

Are med spas a growing industry?

By AmSpa's numbers, from 2022 to 2023, yes: the count of med spa locations rose 18% from 2022 to 2023, and average revenue per med spa rose from $1,307,587 to $1,398,833. On the procedure side, ISAPS estimated 7.0% fewer botulinum toxin procedures by plastic surgeons worldwide in 2025 than in 2024, so the trends do not all point the same way.

How many Botox injections are done each year?

ASPS estimated 9,883,711 neuromodulator injections in 2024, its latest count. ISAPS estimated 7,333,647 botulinum toxin procedures by plastic surgeons worldwide in 2025, including 1,456,812 in the US. Both come from plastic surgeons' data, so neither counts every injection given in med spas.

What license do med spa injector jobs ask for?

On our board on November 5, 2026, 29 of 50 injector jobs accepted a nurse practitioner, 14 a registered nurse and 10 a physician assistant. In Google's job ads, titles that named NP or PA posted higher typical pay ($70 an hour) than titles that named RN ($50).
